Laurel 's Story

Went to Lamar for freshman year; then moved to Houston and worked as a legal secretary and took night classes at U. of H.; Married Glen Bosma, a computer engineer for RCA and he was transferred to Denver and we were there for 2 years and then his draft board was running out of guys to send to Viet Nam. To avoid that, he joined the Navy, who was short of computer techies, and they had us move to Quonset Point, Rhode Island. When he got out of the Navy, RCA wanted him to return to Houston and we lived on the west side until we divorced in 1985. I was a Realtor at that time and also teaching (Principles & Practices of R.E. and R.E. Finance) at Houston Community College in the evenings. Then I moved to SW Houston and we lived in ParkM...Expand for more
eadown townhomes. I married Alexander "Zan" Hackley and he owned Interface Computer Systems. He sold, installed and maintained PC's for small companies and/or professionals who had no "in-house" computer guru. One of his former partners offered him a job as MEP Cordinator on the construction project to build the Performing Arts Center in Corpus Christi so we packed our bags. After that project, he did the same thing in building office building for Valero, laboratory & warehouse. Then another former partner, wanted him to help him in his company building gauges and equipment for oil drilling rigs in Spring (across from the Woodlands and he jumped at the chance to return to the Houston area. Meanwhile, I am still a Realtor.
